Seabourn Launches the Odyssey

After many months of anticipation the 450 passenger Seabourn Odyssey was officially launched in Venice on June 25, 2009. The ship was christened by Pam Conover, CEO of Seabourn under sunny skies with cheering crowds. “No expense was spared,” said Mickey Aaronson, CEO of Carnival Corporation, “this ship is now the standard by which all other luxury cruise ships will be measured.”

A great deal of the ship’s appeal comes from the carefully chosen staff and crew who have been hand selected for their professionalism and dedication to excellence. “Great people are really what make a great product - and we have great people. Smart, talented people who know how to anticipate what our guests want. I am so proud of them,” said Cruise Director Barry Hopkins. The verdict is not yet in whether or not the Odysessy is the next darling of the luxury cruise industry. With so many price incentives out there, previously loyal travelers are abandoning ship to try new products - maybe the lure of pure indulgence promised by Seabourn will be enough to attract a new following.
